ABOUT US

Who we are?

The World Scout Movement

The Scouting or Scouting Movement is a voluntary, non-political youth education movement that is open to all regardless of origin, gender, social and wealth status, and denomination. Its purpose, principles, and methods of upbringing were defined by its founder, Lord Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell of Gilwell (BiPi), in the first decade of the 20th century.

BiPi was born in London in 1857 and then served in the British Army in India and Africa. During his years in Africa, he wrote several books on military reconnaissance and reconnaissance training. It was then that the idea of Scouting was born in his mind.

After returning home, he organized the first Scout Camp on Brownsea Island in 1907, and in 1908 published his book Scouting for Boys, in which he laid the foundations of Scouting.

He dedicated his life to starting the movement, eventually dying in 1941 in Kenya. His memory and work have been preserved, nurtured and further developed by thousands since then.

Hungarian Scouts Association Abroad

The Szent-Györgyi Albert Scout Team No. 55 is one of the teams of the 1st District (Europe) of the Hungarian Scout Association Abroad (KMCSSZ). We are Hungarian scouts outside the borders of Hungary, so the primary priority for us is to nurture the Hungarian culture and language, and to strengthen the children's sense of Hungarianness.

We work playfully, according to age, in a playful way, with a methodology and an example.

The principles of Scouting prescribe a pattern of behavior for each member and also define the movement. To achieve these goals, BiPi invented the scouting method, which consists of the following points:

1. Scout Law and Vow

2. learning by doing

3. guard (small group) system

4. Continuous variety of incentive programs mainly in nature

5. + cultivating Hungarian culture with special regard to our folk traditions.

The motto of the KMCSSZ comes from Sándor Sík, which also draws attention to our Hungarian consciousness, and which reads as follows:

"A more human person, a more Hungarian Hungarian!"
